- Residents aged 16 through 64 must buy a fishing license (residents under 16 and 65+ exempt, must carry proof of age; residents 65+ need a lifetime saltwater license for saltwater). Non-residents under 16 exempt. Private ponds excluded.
Good to know
Resident freshwater fishing is sold bundled with small game hunting ($10) or as a $3 3-day license. Saltwater license required south of U.S. 90. Statewide creel: black bass 10, crappie 30, walleye 3; many lake-specific length limits.
