- Manitoba residents 65+ and Manitoba-resident youth under 16 need no licence (youth keep their own limit). Canadian and non-Canadian resident youth under 16 must fish with a licence holder (catch counts in that person's limit) or buy a licence to have their own limit. Manitoba-resident active military/veterans exempt. Family Fishing Weekends June 12-14, 2026 and Feb 20-22, 2027: no licence needed.
Good to know
Four fishing divisions (Southern, Northwest, North Central, Northeast) with waterbody-specific rules. Barbless hooks mandatory province-wide. Live bait fish banned outside parts of the Southern Division. Manitoba uses maximum-size rules (no fish above X cm kept) rather than minimum sizes. Licence not valid in national parks. New e-licensing system launched in 2026.
