Overview
Unhooking a pike or zander needs both hands free and some care: teeth, gill covers and treble hooks cause injuries easily. This kit brings together two simple tools.
The pair of gloves is knitted from polyethylene yarn and coated with latex: a non-slip grip on a wet fish and protection against scrapes and teeth. A magnetic clip lets you hang them on your belt when not in use.
The stainless steel jaw spreader holds the mouth open while you remove the hook with pliers, which shortens the time the fish spends out of the water. Use it gently, without forcing the jaw.
Limitations: the gloves resist punctures and scrapes, but no glove is invulnerable to a hook driven in hard. Unhooking pliers are not included.

Frequently asked questions
Are pliers included?
No. The kit contains the pair of gloves and the jaw spreader. You still need long pliers to remove the hook.
Does the spreader hurt the fish?
Used without force, it simply keeps the mouth open. Remove it as soon as the hook is out.
Can the gloves be washed?
Rinse the latex in clean water after fishing and let them air-dry.
