Overview
A propeller lure swims on the surface, spinning a small propeller that leaves a wake and a splashing sound. Fish it with a slow, steady retrieve; it is ideal over deep weed beds and along reed lines, for pike, black bass and perch.
Each lure measures about 9 cm (3.5 in) and weighs about 15 g (0.53 oz), with flat-shank black nickel hooks and double split rings. The pack includes all five colours on offer: red head with white body, blue head with white body, black head with red fins, dark green with yellow fins, and black-red with silver body. Slow down near structure and pause briefly after each swirl: that is often when the strike comes. For pike, add a bite-proof leader.
Limitations: like any surface lure, it is not very effective in cold water. The supplier's product name says 16 g, its description about 15 g. Check that the propeller spins freely before each trip.
