- Children under 12 do not need a license; ages 12-17 need the $10 Youth License; all anglers 18+ must buy a license. Seniors: reduced Senior Angling license (70+, 5 years residency) and Pioneer license (65+, 50 years residency).
Good to know
Rules are set by zone (9 zones) rather than statewide. Bass and walleye are non-native: no limit in streams and in the Columbia River Zone (walleye listed with nongame fish, no limit and no minimum length); spearfishing for bass and walleye allowed in open rivers/streams from Jan 1, 2026. New Ocean Endorsement ($9/yr, $4/day) required for ocean fishing in 2026. Combined Angling Tag required for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon, halibut.
